Digitization continues to progress-also at the Sparkasse. There, service employees are now being replaced by video terminals.

Dortmund-bank customers have to be prepared for innovations regularly. A controversial fee was recently abolished at the Sparkasse. Now personal conversations with employees are going differently than usual.
Sparkasse relies on video terminals: Customers have to prepare for innovations
Some Sparkassen branches already offer the new service, as the MDR reports. In the Bautzen and Neschwitz area in Upper Lusatia, customers are to find video terminals for several weeks instead of service employees in the branches. Through huge screens, consumers can now contact the employees via video counters (more digital news at terminals).
In the meantime, these should be in other, larger Sparkassen branches and look after the video service in Sparkassen branches. It is also possible without an employee on site to complete permanent orders, transfers and transcripts. Vanessa Fabig, project manager for the video service at the Kreissparkasse Bautzen, told the MDR: Almost everything that is possible at the bank switch can also be done via the video service.
However, advice cannot be carried out using the video terminal. However, customers can communicate with their consultant via the device via a personal appointment. Another bank, meanwhile, abolishes its EC cards, which is why customers are also prepared for a change.

Both online banking and the apps should be to blame for the innovation at the savings banks, because this will make fewer and fewer people go to the bank on site. This means that more and more branches are closing, especially in rural regions.
With the video terminals in particular, older people in Upper Lusatia should continue to be offered the possibility of personal contact-without a branch closing. However, it remains to be seen whether these people can handle the new Service of the Sparkasse. It is also unclear whether the video terminals extend to other locations.
